About the Author
About the Author: Karen Clopton-Dunson has taught Kindergarten and Headstart in the Chicago Public School system. Teaching the history of Africans in America inspired her to write history books with clever rhymes and quirky illustrations to captivate, inspire and educate beginning readers. The author lives in Chicago with her two children. This is her first children's book. More history books with playful texts are on the way.

The Wacky Discoveries of George Washington Carver

I highly advise anyone that has a child in Head Start or kindergarten to buy this book! I heard about the book through a friend that has little ones and purchased a copy for my little ones. They are ages 3 & 5 and love for me to read to them. I was quite impressed with the questions they both asked during the reading and after the reading of this book. During the second reading, they actually tried to read along with me.
This author has used a very creative method to stimulate the mind of a child and to also keep their interest. It appears that this book has ignited their interest in science and history. I want to thank the author, Karen Clopton-Dunson for the ingenious method she has used to tell a story and educate our children.

A FUN MUST READ for ALL children to learn about African American History!!!

I chose this book as a part of a classroom study on George W Carver. I was disappointed in the quality and content. The illustrations were cheap looking, computerized images and the story was inaccurate at times. I appreciate the attempt to make a rhyming, young-child friendly picture book on the subject but this was not what I had hoped for.
