More than a manual for living, this collection of myth-busters and advice from real scientific studies, principals and data is really a Swiss-Army style toolkit for getting through to the truth. Decisions about health, diet, even which appliances to buy can be difficult. Everyone has an opinion. Who do you believe? All of us are confronted daily with examples of solutions to such questions heavily shrouded in the things "they" said about the issues. This meticulous work identifies exactly who "they" are, and how to separate the truth you need to know to make informed, useful decisions from popular, often unfounded beliefs. Or, worse yet, those ideas presented as "common knowledge" that are in fact, marketing spin. Author Clegg has done us all a service in presenting the real dope, in bite-sized, easily understood answers. His subjects range over a huge spectrum of things that bother us, things that we worry about, and things that make us suspect that we're not really fully aware. Having read several of his other books, I've found his ability to break even theoretical physics down into concepts the average layman can absorb, very helpful. His writing voice is engaging and direct. I also enjoyed the organization of the individual chapters which made it easy to scroll down to locate the real science that bears on a specific question. This will be a book I refer to again and again. This is a must-read book for those of us who wish to not just extend our lives, but enjoy the journey.

After falling in love with "The Book of Mormon" soundtrack I wanted to know more about the story and since I can't exactly afford a trip to NYC to see the show (not that i could get a ticket) the book was the next best thing.

The book in includes a forward by Mark Harris, authors notes from each of the three authors, production history, a list of scenes and song titles and, finally, the complete script with song lyrics. The pages are nice and glossy with colorful accents and small photos from production throughout the script.

The script itself is brilliant. I think the review from Hollywood Reporter by David Rooney says it best:

"The show manages to have a comic field day with Mormonism while simultaneously acknowledging - maybe even respecting - the right of everyone to follow any faith they choose. Or invent."

I can't recommend this enough, if you like the soundtrack, or are curious to see what all the fuss is about and can't see the show itself this book is the perfect way to experience and enjoy "The Book of Mormon".

The PERFECT companion to the Cast Recording

If you love The Book of Mormon, this is definitely a book you need to pick up. It's the complete libretto along with pictures of the cast and even close up shots of some of the fun props and costumes used in the production. The actual book of the show is hilarious and has a lot more heart than what you get from the CD. Hands down the Best Musical Libretto I've seen for sale in a good long while.

Best script I have read of a musical in YEARS!

I was not expecting how amazing the quality of the writting would be from a Trey Parker and Matt Stone musical. Wow....the lyrics are so clever and the writing is nothing short of fantastic. I just bought tickets to go see this show in October cause they are sold out for MONTHS!!!! If you want a taste of this musical, get a copy of this script and soundtrack and enjoy!

Excellent text

I have taught (and taken) courses in Child Development and Lifespan Development with numerous textbooks, and this was definitely my favorite. The text is exceptionally thorough and includes a balance of theory and application. Relevant research is discussed throughout, in a way that is interesting and engaging and emphasizes the importance of scientific rigor in studying development. Most of all I appreciate the personal, direct voice of the text, as if I am listening to the author talk. Some other texts actually make reading about lifespan development boring (hard to do but can be done!) This one very effectively illuminates how fascinating it can be. My only criticism might be that I found it very difficult to cover the entire text in a one semester class, precisely because it is so rich in information.

The book is in great condition...HOWEVER, I was under the impression that the mydevelopmentlab.com access code was coming with the book and it didn't! I bought the book new for that reason and am very upset about it. Now I have to buy the code too!

I cannot believe this has been revised 5 times. It is just plain poorly written. When I'm studying for a class, I don't have time to reread an awkwardly worded sentence over and over until I understand what they're talking about. If you have an option of using another book on the topic, please do so.

So much info from different authorities

This is much better than I had presumed it would be. So much info on Baba Ogun on different aspects of this great Orisha related to his role in warfare, technology, Yoruba culture, etc..with a balance of perspectives from both the continent/Yorubaland and the new world. I can't imagine anyone being disappointed with the amount of information contained in this great book from both scholarly and religious sources.

If you want to know about Ogun, read this book.

This is a really wonderful collection of scholarly articles about Ogun. I took a workshop 20+ years ago that identified Ogun as my guardian Orisha, and have been curious about him over the years. There is so much conflicting information online that it is difficult for even a professional academic researcher like me to cut through it all. This book did the trick. It was absolutely fantastic in its breadth and clarity. The collection of scholars assembled for it was ideal. I was very grateful someone took the time to create this collection of scholarly essays.
