About the Author

Dr. Seiden has been a medical educator for his entire career. He has taught human gross anatomy and embryology for over forty years. For over 20 years, he also has taught extensively in courses in preparation for the USMLE Step 1 examination. Dr. Corbett is Associate Professor, Department of General Surgery, University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.

About the Author
Charles Roth is Professor Emeritus in Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Texas at Austin, where he taught Digital Design for more than four decades. In addition to co-authoring DIGITAL SYSTEMS DESIGN USING VHDL, Dr. Roth has authored the successful FUNDAMENTALS OF LOGIC DESIGN and co-authored DIGITAL SYSTEMS DESIGN USING VERILOG.

Larry L. Kinney is a Professor and Director of Undergraduate Studies at the University of Minnesota. He received his Ph.D in Electrical Engineering from the University of Iowa in 1968. His research concerns digital system and digital computer design, specifically concurrent error detection techniques, testing of logic and design, distributed computer systems, computer architectures, error detecting/correcting codes, and applications of microprocessors.

I HATE THIS BOOK!!!!!

Yay! You're going to be an engineer, congrats! Now if your professor wants you to use this textbook for homework, expect endless nights of tears and suffering because this book expects you to know what you need to know without knowing what you don't know. This book was literally a punishment for choosing the engineering field because, unless you are taught well and then use this book, it will be useless. For example, if you have an assignment with several questions from this book, and you don't understand how to do them, the book will typically make it worse and make you rethink your major choice. I hate my professor for making me utilize this book and I feel like this should not be a text book, it should be more like a reference for you after you get your degree.

I feel I'm dumb when I read it...

...then I google the subject and read/watch something much easier to understand. Unfortunately, this is a required textbook for my Modern Digital Systems Design class, but I find it really hard to follow the sentences and the paragraphs. I thought the fault was on me, but I remember enjoying very much reading through Linear Algebra, Calculus, and Differential Equations textbooks. This textbook, however, is painstakingly difficult to read - event though some stuff is pretty straighforward to understand, as I said before, once when you look it up on other sources.

About the Author
David C. Funder is Distinguished Professor of Psychology and former chair of the department at the University of California, Riverside. Winner of the 2009 Jack Block Award for Distinguished Research in Personality, he is a former editor of the Journal of Research in Personality, and a past president of the Association for Research in Personality as well as the Society for Personality and Social Psychology. He is best known for his research on personality judgment and has also published research on delay of gratification, attribution theory, the longitudinal course of personality development, and the psychological assessment of situations. He has taught personality psychology to undergraduates at Harvey Mudd College, Harvard University, and the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, and continues to teach the course every year at the University of California, Riverside.

I had to buy this for my online Personality Psychology and I found this book to be very enjoyable. The chapters are long and it does have a lot of examples with additions of the author's experiences/opinions. Sometimes it could be summarized better but the end of the chapter summaries do a good job without losing too much. I feel I am learning a lot from this book and am doing very well in the class so I would say the book is pretty good. Its not boring or dry but If you dislike a relaxed feel you might not like this book because the author does talk to you a bit.

I loathe this textbook. I am currently taking Personality Psych right now and the author is impossible to read for several reasons:
1) it's impossible to study for tests using this book. The author tends to ramble on and on, using his own experiences and subjective opinions that I want to know nothing about. Concrete facts would be more helpful for students who are trying to learn the actual science of personality.
2) The author's writing style simply makes me angry the further and further I read. He is snarky at times, to the point of trying to be the reader's "friend" rather than being an objective book used to learn. His voice is annoying and it's like pulling teeth for me to try and read. I actively avoid it.
3) His subjectivity makes the book extremely muddled, disorganized, and at times inaccurate.

Overall, I don't recommend this book at all. It's horrible.

Funder's original Personality Puzzle was great and it keeps getting better. I would use this book for Personality 101 or a graduate seminar and both audiences would find it very worthwhile. He has good content, he is lucid, has a sense of humor and thinks practically. Hard to find those in one author.

This is an incredibly detailed and well written book about the process of putting your TV Pilot together. There hasn't been anything like it on the market yet and really fills the gap of how to navigate your TV writing aspirations. It feels modern and addresses the current TV Show landscape perfectly. It's also inspiring and positive, making you WANT to go out, research and write. Highly recommend.

Kam Miller's book is the definitive text on how to write a TV Pilot and arc your series. This isn't a quick book of shortcuts. This is an in-depth guide that leads you through the steps of LEARNING how to write a relevant, character driven television series. Ms. Miller has no doubt spent countless hours breaking down current shows and laying them out in a way that makes them accessible to writers creating their own series. Each chapter has a very clear exercise at the end. These exercises help you build your world and create your arcs for the story you want to tell. The format of this book is about giving you the tools that you need as a writer to make your show. Along the way, exercises are EXACTLY THE SAME as what would be asked of you as a professional writer in a writer's room or developing a show for producers or a network. It's hard work, but if you really want to write a show that has a shot of getting made or have a writing sample that will be noticed, use this book.

The book is filled with fresh and creative ideas. I love the multiple techniques and the resulting textures achieved. I am currently working on a layered meadow scene and next will tackle a large textured vessel.
