I have attempted to anticipate the needs and questions of the enquiring scientist because I was there myself, and know the kind of questions and concerns I had at the time I was trying to learn the subject.

She provides a good foundation in setting up the business initially

I've worked with enough small businesses, and taken enough business and accounting classes in college, to notice that this book is a clear, helpful guide for small businesses to successfully keep track of their business.

Biafore not only starts from the ground up, but explains why you need to set up your business and enter transactions in a certain way to make the most of QuickBooks for your business.

She provides a good foundation in setting up the business initially, and makes it easy to understand. What I also liked was that she explained good accounting practices in an easy to understand manner. If businesses follow her advice, it will likely make it much easier for businesses to stay on top of their business, and have information at their fingertips to make decisions, and at tax time.

Wow! This is an Accomplishment!

I have used QuickBooks for years and years (if pressed, I literally could not even tell you when I first began relying on it). I always thought it it was fairly intuitive (of course, it has had a few quirks and glitches through the years). And, I'll be honest, when I saw this doorstop, I thought it was absolute overkill. Then, I started flipping through it. As it turns out, I have not been using QuickBooks to its fullest. I have already begun tinkering!!

These chapters are wonderfully, logically organized. If one has a single question, the answer is abundantly easy to locate. Likewise, this has been intensely edited. It is jargon-free and ANY layperson can follow these clear, explicit instructions.

I could imagine this manual priced considerably higher. In my opinion, this is a bargain.

Nearly anyone who relies on QuickBooks will find a new gem in here.

After trying to figure out what the author was talking about with the appearance of the QuickBooks Dashboard (which did not look anything like the dashboard on the Online Plus Subscription I purchased this past week and have been struggling to get up and running for 2015) I arrived at this pink warning box about 15 pages into the kindle version I had just spent about 16 bucks to download: WARNING QUICKBOOKS FOR MAC AND QUICKBOOKS ONLINE BOTH DIFFER SIGNIFICANTLY FROM THE WINDOWS VERSION OF THE PROGRAM, SO THIS BOOK ISN'T MEANT TO BE A GUIDE TO THE MAC VERSION OR QUICKBOOKS ONLINE. So, my dumb question is: Why the heck couldn't that warning appear in the DESCRIPTION for the manual, since there's NO REFUNDS on the DIGITAL products? If you are using one of the desktop Windows versions of QuickBooks, this might be what you are looking for. But if you are going to use the ONLINE version, CAVEAT EMPTOR! What a RIPOFF!

The Last Coach

I have read quite a few books on Paul "Bear" Bryant (including his audobiography) so I wasn't sure if the information in this book would be facts I already knew or information I was not aware of. To say I was surprised would be an understatement. Yes, there was all the well-known facts about his life, but to my surprise there was quite a bit of information that I was reading for the first time.

The author has done an outstanding job of detailed research and brings a clear steady style to the book. It is without question the most comprehensive book on Coach Bryant's life that I have ever read.

If you're an Alabama football fan, this is a must read.

The BEST Bryant Book

I've read many of the Bryant books and simply put, this is the best.

If you are a fan of college football then you'd do well to read this book from a historical standpoint. For those who think they know college football, this book is illuminating with regards to the "national" game in the early days vs. now (2007) and how championships were determined largely by geographics and not by talent or strength of schedule.

This is to share my review on the book ‘Demand Planning with SAP APO - Execution’ - Authored by Avijit Dutta & Shreekant Shiralkar.

Being an APO professional working in SAP APO environment for more than twelve years and with more than 23 years of industry experience, It’s indeed a pleasure to provide an objective and rational review on this book that revolves around a subject that I had the opportunity to work extensively and experience in the subject more insight.

My propensity to read the book ‘Demand Planning with SAP APO - Execution’ arose from reading the authors’ prequel book ‘Demand Planning with SAP APO – Concepts and Design’. Having discovered the quality in their first book, my expectation was already benchmarked for their second book; as I was curious to know how authors would conclude the subject. Having read both the books, I can say with authority that authors have done a fabulous job in making the second book an absolute complement to their first book.

The book ‘Demand Planning with SAP APO - Execution’ begins with descriptive Demand planning business scenarios, and goes on to build on the concepts and design explained in their prequel book and beautifully explains and exemplify demand planning through step-by-step, hands-on method. In this book as well, authors continue the ‘business touch’, much to my interest. The book wonderfully demonstrates, in a pattern similar to their first book, the practical application of data loading and statistical forecasting in the context of SCM and business. Furthermore, it’s brilliant to find that authors’ have included advanced topics like product life cycle planning, promotion planning, consensus planning and integration of demand planning with release of demand to supply planning. The chapter on implementation and template based global rollout methodology also exhibits rare insights which are difficult to come by in any other books.

The book would certainly benefit the beginners who aspire to work in SAP Demand Planning as well as it would enrich the knowledge of existing SCM professionals in demand planning space.

I wish the authors all the great success with their book and their future endeavors.

About the Author

Dr. Sreenivas Alampalli, P.E., MBA, is director of the Structures Evaluation Services Bureau at the New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT). His responsibilities include managing structural inspection, inventory, and safety assurance programs. His interests include infrastructure management, innovative materials for infrastructure applications, nondestructive testing, structural health monitoring, and long-term bridge performance. He has authored or co-authored more than 250 publications including two books on infrastructure health in civil engineering. He is the recipient of the Bridge NDT Lifetime Service Award in 2014 from American Society for Nondestructive Testing for outstanding voluntary service to the bridge and highway NDT industry. In 2013, he also received ASCE’s Henry L. Michel Award for Industry Advancement of Research.

Mr. William J. Moreau, P.E., served as the chief engineer of the New York State Bridge Authority for over 27 years. Two of the six Hudson River crossings previously under his care were suspension bridges, constructed circa 1924 and 1930. Maintenance and preservation of these world-class suspension bridges became a career objective for Moreau. He participated for many years as a member of the Transportation Research Board Committee and chairman of the Construction Committee for Bridges and Structures. Moreau has also been a member of AASHTO and ASCE throughout his professional career. He is currently semi-retired and continues consulting.

This review isn't about the content of the book. It is about the Kindle digital copy of this book.

The first thing you should know before purchasing is that this book is only available on the Kindle app (i.e. your computer, phone, tablet) and not on the actual Kindle. I absolutely love it when my school textbooks are formatted for the Kindle, so the format was not ideal. However, I saw this before purchasing, so I knew what type of reading experience to expect and was willing to settle for the ease of reading on my phone rather than lugging around the big, heavy print version. The layout exactly the same as the print book. The benefit of reading it on my phone/computer is that pictures, tables, ect. are in color and look great. This is nice but not of great importance to me. The downside of this format is that I have to zoom in and scroll around on the page while reading. The text is too small to read when I'm looking at the entire page. It is a similar experience to reading .pdf files on a Kindle; it's not the best reading experience, but it works.

The second thing you should know before purchasing is that it is only allowed on two devices. I didn't know this before purchase and had to contact Amazon customer service via live chat for help. They guided me through this process and were very helpful. To change devices you have to deregister the device you want to remove the book from (simply deleting it will not work), and then you can load it onto the new device. After I had everything worked out, I asked how I would know for future renting or buying how many devices I would be able to see a book on. Amazon told me "I am really sorry but there is not any way to find that book before renting a book,." I was shocked. You should be able to find out the restrictions of the digital copy before renting!

Even with the complications, I am glad that I got the digital copy of this book because I love having digital textbooks. I am taking away two stars because of the rental experience. It's not right that there was no "two device only" warning. I'm mostly bothered that there was no way for me to know this before renting this book and that there is no way for me to learn the restrictions placed other digital texts before I pay.
